Gamemaker has a nasty habit of spontaneously deleting segments of code from random collision events. In version 1.31, it did this to the first, second, and final boss, making it impossible to progress past the first boss. My sincerest apologies - download version 1.4 ASAP. Version 1.31 has been hidden from downloads.
